Just wanted to share a thought I had about the reaction of the media to a Kerry win. Hmmm.....
I just finished reading Orcinus' fourth installment of The Rise of Pseudo-Fascism. Excellent reading, by the way.
http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/ I especially recommend reading an article linked in the piece. The article, "The Apparat" clearly sets out the apparatus of the conservative movement.
http://www.mediatransparency.org/stories/apparat.html. A lot of the article discusses the affect this whole apparatus has had on the media, especially the retribution towards those critical of the administration.
My little fantasy came out of this. I've been getting the feeling of late that the media is tentatively starting to smell blood. Hence, more anti-Bush reporting. The first debate was important in this. It was so unsupportable for the President of the United States to appear so, that even the cowed media felt free to report on it.
So, what happens if, as I'm predicting, the Democrats win big-time in November? Will the media go into a feeding frenzy between November and inaugeration reviewing all of the mistakes, lies and distortions of the administration? Will some of this actually come out? What will Fox do?
One prediction that I've had before is that the Conservatives will dump Bush like a road kill full of maggots. He will become the total whipping boy and blamed for the whole mess. Boy, what gyrations that will require. I sure hope a media less oppressed will call it for what it is.
That's my fantasy, but how accurate do you think it will be? What do you think the media reaction will be?
